The goddess Hylia managed to save her but the damage has been done, Zelda has regressed to a 10 years old age and lost her memories. Hylia has no other choice but to put her in an alternate timeline who has no Zelda here and desperately need one because Ganon is coming back. Link has the role of a Royal Guard but it means he has to serve a lord as a butler who is the adoptive father of Zelda. And so, the goddess gives the lil' girl to the lord in question to raise her properly.
